BAHO’S NEWEST PROCESSING STATION

Under the leadership of Baho — a major Rwandan specialty coffee producer — Emmanuel Rusatira and his family decided to purchase and establish their own washing stations after many years working in the coffee industry.

Today, the company operates more than ten coffee processing stations across Rwanda and Burundi. Each one has its own unique flavor profile and characteristics thanks to its specific location and distinct management approach. The Rusatira family has developed their own coffee grading system and spends time continuously experimenting with washed, honey, and natural processes.

This washed station is named after the hill it sits on in Rwanda’s Eastern Province: Gitoki Hill. The coffee production is located right on this hill, and around 1,120 smallholder farmers bring their harvest here. This makes it possible to produce up to ten containers of green coffee per year.

And the quality is uncompromising. This washed Rwandan lot from Baho is a classic example of Red Bourbon from the region — juicy, with clear notes of citrus, dried apricot, and black tea.
