THE STORY OF AGRI EVOLVE BEGAN ON THIS FARM
Nyabirongo is a small settlement where the story of Agri Evolve began, just beyond the town of Kisinga. This lot was assembled piece by piece from the harvests of many smallholder farmers across the Rwenzori region. Most farmers grow their coffee at altitudes ranging from 1300 to 1600 meters above sea level, though some live and farm much higher up.
Around 2,700 small producers bring their ripe cherries to the local processing station. In Uganda, the main varieties grown are SL28 and SL14, and this lot is no exception. These juicy varieties, cultivated in a cool climate, produce an exceptionally sweet cup, yet one that retains a bright, fresh acidity reminiscent of yellow fruits.
The coffee is naturally processed. Freshly picked cherries are first washed with clean water at the station, then laid out in a thin layer on raised African beds to dry. The station workers constantly turn the cherries to ensure even drying and to prevent over-fermentation. As a result, the coffee develops a light, delicate ferment that enhances the berry sweetness while preserving the vivid terroir-driven notes of juicy fruits.
This coffee is all about strong genetics, exceptional terroir, and—most importantly—expertise and experience. Agri Evolve is committed to improving yields and providing comprehensive support to Ugandan farmers—offering fertilizers, seedlings, training, and more. Behind this effort stands a large, dedicated team of agronomists, managers, technicians, and quality control professionals working hand in hand with farmers to elevate the coffee from this region.
